Who Scanz is for

Honest take on who Scanz fits and who it doesn't. A scanner-first platform built for active US equity traders making same-day or short-swing decisions.

Scanz is a scanner-first platform for traders who make decisions in real time. The whole product is organized around one workflow: define what a setup looks like, watch the market for it continuously, act when it appears. If that’s how you trade, you’ll feel at home immediately. If it isn’t, there are better tools for what you’re doing.

This page is the honest version of “is this for me?” — written for people still evaluating, not for current users.

Who Scanz is built for

Active day traders. The Scanner updates twice per second, the Signal Scanner streams events the instant they fire, and the News Scanner filters headlines through the same 65+ filters as the price scanner. If you’re sitting in front of charts during the trading day looking for setups — gap-and-go, breakouts, low-float momentum, VWAP reclaims, halts and resumes — Scanz is built around how you work.

Swing traders who run scans, not headlines. If you build watchlists from scans rather than from Twitter, Scanz is a fit. Daily and weekly timeframes, end-of-day scans for setups forming overnight, scanning for stocks setting up against multi-day pivots — all of that works. You won’t get the real-time edge you would as a day trader, but the screening engine does the same job either way.

Pre-market and after-hours traders. PM and AH sessions get first-class treatment everywhere — they’re not bolted-on filters, they’re a core dimension of every scan. If most of your edge comes from finding gappers between 4:00 AM and 9:30 AM ET, this matters more than it might sound.

Traders who want one tool that does the whole top-of-funnel. Most platforms make you stitch together a scanner, a news feed, a Level 2 window, and an alert system from different vendors. Scanz puts all of it under one workflow: scan finds the stock, QuickView opens the chart and L2 in a slide-out panel, news on that stock is one click away, and you can drop an alert without leaving the screen.

Traders coming from Trade Ideas, Finviz Elite, Benzinga Pro, or similar. If you’ve outgrown a screener and you’re tired of duct-taping news + scanners + alerts together, Scanz is the consolidation. If you’re moving up from free TradingView screeners or your broker’s built-in tool, expect a step-change in what you can express in a scan and how fast it updates.

Who Scanz is not built for

Long-term investors and buy-and-hold portfolios. If you’re holding positions for months or years, you don’t need a scanner that updates every 500ms. A free screener is fine for your workflow.

Options-heavy traders looking for an options scanner. Scanz scans equities. Options flow, unusual options activity, IV rank screens — none of that lives in Scanz today. Traders who use Scanz for the underlying and run options analysis elsewhere do exist, but if options scanning is your main need, look at a dedicated options tool.

Traders who only watch one or two tickers. If your whole strategy is trading SPY and QQQ, you don’t need a scanner — you need a chart. Scanz’s value compounds with the number of opportunities you’re trying to surface from the broader market. With a universe of one or two stocks, there’s nothing to scan for.

International equity traders. Scanz covers US equities (NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX, OTC). No LSE, no TSX, no European or Asian exchanges. UK, Canadian, and Australian traders use Scanz to trade US markets specifically — that works fine and is supported. But if you need to scan, say, FTSE 100 stocks, this isn’t your tool.

Traders who need automated execution. Scanz is a discovery and analysis platform. Broker integrations for placing trades from inside the app are on the roadmap but not the core product today. If you want a single click in the scanner to fire an order to your broker, that’s not yet how Scanz works — you’ll need to switch to your broker to execute.

Crypto traders. Scanz is equity-focused. There’s a Crypto News prebuilt because crypto-related stocks (MSTR, COIN, MARA) move on crypto headlines, but Scanz does not scan or quote crypto markets directly.

How to know quickly if it fits

The fastest way to find out is to use it. The Free plan gives you the entire platform with 30-minute delayed data — every feature, every scan, every signal — so you can build your usual setups and see whether the workflow clicks. If you reach for the Scanner first thing each morning during the trial, that’s the signal. If you find yourself ignoring it and going back to your old tools, that’s also a signal.

Plus and Pro both come with a 7-day free trial of the real-time data, which is what unlocks the day-trading workflow. The Free tier is genuinely useful for evaluating whether Scanz fits how you think — but the real-time data is the difference between a screener and a trading tool.
