FAQ's

Answers to the questions traders ask most before signing up — pricing, data quality, platforms, markets, trials, and what's actually included.

The questions that come up most often before and right after signing up. If yours isn’t here, contact support — we update this page based on what people actually ask.

Plans, pricing, and trials

How much does Scanz cost? Three plans. Free is $0/month with 30-minute delayed data and access to the full feature set. Plus is $89/month for real-time data and the core scanning workflow. Pro is $199/month and unlocks unlimited saved scans, alerts, watchlists, multi-monitor support, and the desktop platform. Full breakdown on the pricing page.

Is there a free trial? Yes. Plus and Pro both come with a 7-day free trial of the real-time data. A credit card is required to start the trial; the subscription auto-converts to the paid plan at the end of the trial unless you cancel. There’s also a Free plan you can use indefinitely with 30-minute delayed data — no card required.

What’s the difference between the Free plan and the trial? Free is permanent and uses 30-minute delayed data. The Plus or Pro trial is 7 days of real-time data on top of the full feature set. The features are the same; the trial is about whether the real-time edge is worth paying for.

Can I cancel anytime? Yes. Plans are month-to-month with no contract. You can cancel from inside the app under Manage Subscription, and you’ll keep access until the end of the billing period.

Can I switch plans? Yes. Upgrade or downgrade from inside the app at any time. Changes take effect immediately and we prorate the difference.

What payment methods do you accept? All major credit and debit cards, plus ACH bank transfers for US customers.

Data and markets

Which markets does Scanz cover? US equities only — NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX, and OTC. The Free plan limits coverage to Nasdaq; Plus and Pro include all four exchanges.

What about international markets? Scanz does not scan or quote international markets. UK, Canadian, and Australian traders use Scanz to trade US markets specifically — that works fine — but if you need to scan FTSE, TSX, or ASX stocks, this isn’t your tool today.

Does Scanz cover options or crypto? No options scanning and no direct crypto data. There are crypto-related news and stock prebuilts (for tickers like COIN, MSTR, and miners), but options flow and live crypto markets aren’t part of the product.

How fresh is the real-time data? Scans update every 500ms (twice per second). Signals stream events as they fire. News headlines appear within seconds of publication. On the Free plan, all of this is delayed by 30 minutes.

Do you have pre-market and after-hours data? Yes. Pre-market (4:00 AM–9:30 AM ET) and after-hours (4:00 PM–8:00 PM ET) are first-class sessions throughout the platform — every session-based filter accepts PM, RH, AH, or FD. Pre-market and after-hours scanning are part of Plus and Pro.

Where does the news come from? The News Scanner aggregates from 97+ sources, including SEC filings, major newswires, and exchange-issued releases. You can filter by news type (earnings, upgrades, mergers, halts, etc.) and by stock characteristics in the same scan.

Platforms and devices

What platforms does Scanz run on? Three. The Web app runs in any modern browser at app.scanz.com and works on Plus, Pro, and Free. The Desktop app (Windows and Mac) is included with Pro and adds custom layouts and multi-monitor support. Mobile web is available to all plans for on-the-go access.

Is there a native mobile app? Not yet. Scanz on mobile is a responsive web experience — open app.scanz.com on your phone’s browser and you’ll get a touch-optimized layout. Native iOS and Android apps are not currently shipped.

Do I need the desktop app? No, the web app does everything Plus needs. The desktop app is a Pro feature that adds custom layouts, multi-monitor support, and the workspace flexibility power users want. If you trade from a single screen on a laptop, the web app is fine.

Do I need a powerful computer? For the web app, no — anything that runs a modern browser handles it. For the desktop app with multi-monitor layouts, more screen real estate and RAM helps, but there’s no specific hardware floor. Most modern laptops are more than enough.

Features and capabilities

How many filters can I use in a single scan? There’s no hard cap. Stack as many as the logic requires — most working scans use 3–7 filters. Filters combine with AND logic only (a stock must pass every filter to appear in results); for OR logic, build separate scans.

Can I use Scanz for swing trading, not just day trading? Yes. Daily and weekly timeframes are supported throughout the platform. Swing traders typically run end-of-day scans for setups forming overnight, build watchlists from those scans, and use Alerts on individual tickers for entries.

Does Scanz integrate with my broker? Broker trading integrations are on the roadmap but not shipped yet. You’ll need to switch to your broker to execute orders.

Can I share scans with other traders? There’s no built-in scan-sharing feature. You can describe your filters in any communication channel, and someone with a Scanz account can recreate the same scan in seconds.

Account and support

Can I have multiple accounts? One subscription per email. If you want a separate account for backtesting or a paper-trading exercise, sign up with a separate email.

How do I cancel? From inside the app: click the Scanz logo (top-left) → Manage Subscription → Cancel. You’ll keep access through the end of the billing period.

How do I get help? The fastest path is the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of app.scanz.com, or email support through the Contact page. Most replies come within a few hours during US business hours.

Do you offer education or trade calls? No. Scanz is a tool, not an advisory service. We don’t make trade recommendations or run a chatroom. The docs and blog cover how to use the platform; what you do with it is your call.
